Firefighter/Inspector

Northville Township is accepting applications for the position of full-time Firefighter/Inspector. Starting pay: $42,480. Qualifications include:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Michigan Certified Firefighter II.
  • Current State of Michigan EMT or higher Medical Licensure.
  • Must have Hazmat Operation and Awareness Certification
  • Successful completion of Conference of Western Wayne (CWW) written, with a minimum score of 80 %
  • Successful completion of CPAT physical agility test 
  • Possession of current valid driver’s license.
  • Copies of all certifications must be provided with application.

Candidates must successfully complete a testing process, background investigation, psychological, and physical. Northville Township is accepting applications for its Police Reserve Program.
COMPENSATION
This is a paid position. The Reserve Officer receives $7.50 per hour. Uniforms are furnished by the Township. The Reserve Officer is required to purchase their own firearm.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The Reserve Officer is required to work at least one 5 hour duty shift from 7:00pm to midnight per month. Duties performed include, but are not limited to, patrol with Police Officer, fingerprinting, crime prevention, seminars, special events and emergency duties. Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures and close supervision is received from departmental superiors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability and strength to perform prolonged and arduous work under adverse conditions.
• Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies.
• Ability to satisfactorily complete required training.
• Ability to cooperate with supervisors and other employees, and to accept lines of authority.
• Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Graduation from high school, or GED.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Must possess a current, valid Michigan Drivers License with a driving history that does not create liability concerns; which includes, but is not limited to, convictions for reckless driving, careless driving, suspended license, or convictions involving drinking and impaired driving.
• Must be willing and able to attend mandatory training and monthly meetings.
• Must successfully pass a written test, fire arms qualification, defensive tactics tests, interview, background investigation, and probationary period.
• Preference may be given to applicants who possess one or more of the following: An Associates degree or higher; honorable discharge form the Armed Forces; prior experience as a certified Police Officer or Reserve/Auxiliary Police Officer.
